5. Withdrawing the packer
5.1 Release air out of the packer before
withdrawing it out of the pipeline
9 Never withdraw the packer out of the pipeline before the air
has been fully released out of the packer.
9 Withdraw the packer out of the pipeline using the tension
eyes and the work line cables.
6. Maintenance and care
In this chapter you will nd out how to maintain the Vetter Flexible
packer and the maintenance intervals which you must observe.
6.1 Maintenance intervals
The function test of the safety valve are only to be carried out wi-
thout the packer. Over-pressure range!
A function test of the safety valves with the packer outside of the
pipeline or test pipe can cause the packer to burst.
The function test of the packer at full operating pressure in the
allowed maximum pipe diameter is only permitted to be carried
out in a correspondingly resistant pipe. A pipe which does not
have the corresponding resistance to the packer at full operating
pressure is likely to explode!

After each

Check for completeness, perfect condition
and functional operation.
Carry out a visual check and function
check.
Clean the packer with warm water, neutral
cleaning agent and, if necessary, with a wa-
shing brush.
Finally let it dry at normal room tempera-
ture.

Check the functional capability of the cou-
pling, nipple, manometer and safety valve.

Ination hose Visual check and function check.
Check the functional capability and sealing
of the connection nipple and the cou-
plings.

Check the functional operation of the con-
nection coupling.
Check for tears and/or cuts, abrasions, any
changes to the surface caused by chemical
eects.
